Cyprus' State Collection of Art is considered one of the country's most valuable cultural assets, permanently housed in the National Gallery in Nicosia. A selection from the contemporary section of the collection has been curated by artist and educator Dr. Savvas Christodoulides for the exhibition 'Landscapes', currently on display at the Evagoras Lanitis Centre in Limassol.

“The theme of ‘landscape’ is as old as the history of the Arts and yet so new that it could be considered unexplored.” – Savvas Christodoulides, curator
Featuring some very recent works by established and some emerging Cypriot artists, the exhibition also includes works by old masters of the 20th century, creating an intergenerational dialogue about the theme of landscape in contemporary cypriot art. Some inspired by agricultural landscapes, others creating new landscapes through their material and scale, the works in this exhibition explore the cypriot landscape both as a physical space and an intangible, and inevitably fractured, heritage.
