Overlooking the Old Port of Spetses, the 1802 building that used to house the Port Authority has the most enviable view on the island: its elevated terrace, once the place where captains counted their vessels and merchants weighed their goods, in now home to Orloff, a Greek restaurant that has been offering sublime Greek cuisine since 1991. The menu is filled by typically Greek, mouthwatering mezedes, or small plates of cheese, salads and cooked delicacies that can be shared among friends and better enjoyed with wine or other spirits.
From fresh fish and other goods harvested by the sea to traditional recipes of meatballs and homemade desserts, Orloff is the perfect place to discover authentic Greek flavours whilst enjoying the sweeping views across the sea. Let your eye wander from the Riviera coast to the west all the way to the islands of Dokos, Hydra and Trikeri to the east, and make sure you say hi to Christos, the owner: he’s always warm with newcomers and more than happy to give you a crash course on local history and the story behind his family-owned restaurant.
