For interior stylist and designer Anestis Michalis, simplicity and refinement are what real luxury is all about. Known for his minimalist aesthetic and quiet approach to creating comfortable spaces, Anestis can imbue a space with emotion and a sense of generous openness using as little objects as possible —therefore it comes as no surprise that he is so much sought-after by luxury hotels, villa owners and interior magazines for styling and curating their interiors and editorials. An interior architect by trade, Anestis has been designing the interiors of exclusive hotels and residences all across Greece for over 10 years now.
I started taking photos with my mother’s ZENIT camera at nine years old, and I never stopped. For me photography is pure emotion and atmosphere.
Also active as a set designer and an avid Instagrammer, Anestis treasures creativity and identifies it as the driving force behind all of his projects. Although a self-confessed workaholic who is constantly on the go, he can often be found on the rooftop bars of downtown Athens, the city he's been calling home for 14 years. For Anestis, Athens is an urban centre where one can eat, drink, see a well-staged show or visit an interesting exhibition just as easily as in any other capital. He enjoys the privilege of living near the Acropolis, and as he says, there's no reason for him to leave: with the calm alleys of Plaka at his doorstep and the buzzing city centre a stone's throw away, he combines the best from both worlds.
