Award-winning illustrator and painter Philippos Theodorides is presenting his latest body of work at Martinos Gallery in Athens.
Known for his collages and illustrations depicting colourful urban landscapes, Philippos recently won the EBGE award in illustration and is regularly being commissioned to create work for magazines and brands in Greece and abroad. Always seeking inspiration in the small details of everyday life, his work is often depicting unassuming potted plants, architectural details and the female figure —all organised in arrangements that evoke a strong sense of space and an atmosphere that is distinctly Mediterranean.

For his latest series, Philippos experiments with an even more intuitive creative process that embraces abstraction to a greater extent than in previous work. As he explains, through a deconstruction of recognisable forms he creates a vague image, "a subconscious sediment, where memory and desire are inscribed simultaneously."
