EXHIBITION: “Giles” Brings Dark Humour at the Gagosian
Inspired by a nihilistic Cold War-era novel by the same name, the exhibition brings together some high-profile 20th-century artists.

In 1966, American writer John Barth wrote Giles Goat-Boy, an 800-page meta-fictional novel where the university becomes a metaphor for the universe and the main character is a boy who was raised as a goat. Curated by Artemis Baltoyanni, the exhibition at the Gagosian occupies the gallery's main space on Merlin street, but also an extra space on Herodotou street nearby; all the works at the exhibition share Giles Goat-Boy's dark humour and examine in one way or another "the artist's vexed struggle with the muse."
